Presenter revealed: DJ DipStick of ClanBase Radio
I,
ramdrop have taken some more of my time to sit down with another of the ClanBase Radio presenters -
DJ DipStick. Take a look at the full interview!
Good Afternoon DipStick and welcome to the second interview of CB Radio! Could you please tell the people who don't know you something about yourself?
Eeerhm, well hello there, I am DipStick, a hardstyle nutjob at heart. During the day I work as a telecommunications engineer but at night time love to spin the harder styles in "house-like" music. Not much more to tell actually, born and raised in my hometown in the Netherlands in which I still reside.
In your spare time and when you're not at work, what do you enjoy doing when you're not at the decks?
When I'm not at work or spinning the wheels of steel, I rather enjoy the simple things in life, watching movies, playing all sorts of games, or just hang out where ever.
Sounds cool. Now about your "work place", ClanBase Radio, where did you hear about it and what interested you in joining it?
Well to be honest, I didn't know about it at first, but Cryptic, who I know of Deathless Multigaming and who already was in the CB Radio crew, contacted me whether or not I would be interested in playing my tunes on CB Radio. I didn't have much experience with DJing, or any for that matter, but one thing led to another and well... you can probably figure out the rest.
So, about yourself, when you're away from ClanBase Radio, what music genres do you prefer to listen to?
I mainly prefer hardstyle, and that's basically the only thing I listen to when I've got control of the dial but I can appreciate other styles and genres too, like rock for instance.
What is your favourite record of all times?
I don't really have one specific record I could mention as "my alltime favorite", to be honest, but if I have to choose just 1, I'd have to say 'The Pitcher - Serenity' is still high up on my list.
Ok, so what type of DJ are you? Do you talk when you're on air, or just play music?
I'm a hardstyle nutjob at heart, i play different styles within the hardstyle genre. Not much of a talker to be honest. At first i just played the full tracks at request, but am currently practicing in mixing. That's the main reason I haven't been on much lately, cuz if I intend to do something, I intend to do it right.
Do you find yourself nervous when you're on air?
Not really, I just do my thing playing the music, thinking about what track to put on next when there are no requests. Only times perhaps when I get nervous is when someone's harassing me to do a shoutout or something, I have issues addressing the crowd.
Right, moving on - ClanBase is one of the biggest gaming communities which support a lot of games, have you ever played any cups/ladders that have been hosted by ClanBase?
I used to play Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike Source on ClanBase ladders, later moved on to a short-served World In Conflict enrollment, but eventually lost interest in competitive play. I just mainly play games for entertainment purposes only nowadays.
Ok, stepping back to the Radio aspects, other DJs have a call-in function where listeners can call in to their DJs' show and have a chat with them, do you think this is a good idea or is it something you would strictly oppose?
I don't have a problem with it at all, every DJ is different, and every DJ can decide for themselves what type of show they'd like to host. If that includes taking in callers, I'd say go for it. It's just not really my cup of tea.
True every DJ is different, is there a specific reason as to why you don't?
I'm not much of a talker, not on air, not in real life either, I wouldn't know what to talk about especially to someone I don't know personally. But besides that, I believe a good hardstyle session shouldn't be interrupted with chatter to be honest.
That's all of my questions for now so many special thanks for you and thanks for your time! Have you got any special shoutouts for listeners?
No problem at all. As for the shoutout: Sounds cheesy, but just keep on listening :) The crew is working continuously to improve your experience at ClanBase Radio.
