The next consecutive interviewee is the host of TFI Friday, Monday Night Smeed and occasional F1 commentator

DJ Smeed.

Afternoon Smeed and may I welcome you to the fourth interview of CB Radio! If you would, can you please tell the people who don't know you something about yourself ?

Erm, most of the information about me is on my ClanBase Radio profile (http://www.clanbaseradio.com/profile/Smeed) but one thing most people won't know is that I'm moving in with my beautiful girlfriend Katie in September.

In your spare time, what do you enjoy doing when you're not at the decks or at work?

I play games on my PC or Xbox 360. I also repair computers and laptops for people. People may not think that's a fun thing, but I enjoy it. I talk to a lot of friends on IRC and MSN, and post messages on Facebook and Twitter. Oh, and watching F1 and of course listen to music.

ClanBase Radio, I see from your link that Neur0 introduced you to it, but why did you join?

I have a history with online radio. I first started off with WPR (Wireplay Radio) and then became the Manager of it. It was eventually closed by the ruling that online radio stations had to pay a license fee and a fee for every song played. I missed doing online shows, so when Neur0 told me about ClanBase, I thought "why not".

Now, you're a pretty wacky DJ who plays a range of music for listeners and also some of your own, but what about you, what music genres do you prefer and why?

My music taste is crazy varied. I like swear-word infested rap like Eminem, Dr. Dre, etc, but then I also like stuff like Florence & The Machine and Irish music and Riverdance. I also like stuff like Scooter. And Drum 'n Bass stuff like The Prodigy and Pendulum. Why? Christ I don't know, I just do!

Whats your favourite song of all time?

Erm, it changes... I never have had and probably won't ever have a "favourite song of all time" >.< At the moment I'm very fond of Florence & The Machine - You Got The Love though.

When you're on air, do you ever find you get nervous?

I did on my first show! But after that no, I enjoy it 100% - no room for nerves!

I know you like to open your show with a general loud SCREEEEAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMM, is that the signature for your show?

It wasn't planned to be, but somehow it kinda has become! :D

Now, ClanBase is a large gaming website, which hosts various competitions for gamers, have you ever played in any of them?

No, mainly as the games they that do that have that sort of stuff I don't like! I'm not fond of CoD, CS, etc... Although I am into L4D.

Right, your shows, I also notice you have two although one is not active at the moment, so how would you sell your show to people who have never tuned in before?

Basically I'm a nutter. I talk about random crap, take the piss out of people on IRC, I usually have callers on Skype that I also take the piss out of, I have funny sound FX, I sometimes screw around with the music to make it sound funny (like speed it up and slow it down, change the pitch, etc) and generally have a laugh.

I mostly play people's requests, occasionally putting in the odd song I want to play. Oh, and you can watch me live on Cam while I'm on air - as long as you have MSN!

Most DJ's like to have people call in and just have a general chat with them - do you think this is good or is there some part of you that strongly rejects the idea?

I love people calling in - it's hilarious, 'spesh when Apoc calls in and starts talking about crazy stuff! :D

Haha, so if there was absolutely no objection, is there anything within ClanBase Radio that you would change?

As surprising as this may sound, no. ClanBase Radio is run very well, and now that the new website is working so well, I think it's fine. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
